Julia Margaret Bingham

Hello, This is Richard Howie coming to you live from Austin, Texas where today we never saw the sun, and there were drifts of frozen something!  Not snow, not hail, I have no idea.  But it sure was cold.  Not normal for Texas! This gave me the opportunity to stay in doors and work on my family tree.  In so doing, I learned about the peaceful passage of another cousin, Julia Margaret Bingham who has left us on August 11, 2018.  In Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada.

Let us begin with her name was Julia Margaret Bingham.
Julia was born a Ferrall on the 2nd of March 1950 in Riverside, California.  Her parents were Frank Millington Ferrall and Lois Aileen Howie.  Julia was one of our 3rd cousins.
Her mother Lois was a 2nd cousin once removed.
Julia was sixty-eight years old at her passing.

Frank Millington Ferrall 

Her father Frank Millington Ferrall was born in Hemet, Riverside, California on October 20, 1919 to a family of Chicken Ranchers.  The last of five sons born to George Dunshee Ferrall and Gretta Esther (Nellie) Millington.

By 1940 his father George D. Ferrall was going by Dr. George D. Ferrall and owned his own business as an interior decorator at FERRALL'S. 

At the age of twenty-one, Frank M. Ferrall married Lois Aileen Howie in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 27, 1941.

Four months later on January 10, 1942 in the heat of World War II, the then interior decorator and window dresser joins to service in the U.S Army Air Corps.

 By 1945 Frank is back to work in the family business alongside his father George D. Ferrall, at "FERRALL'S, a complete decorative service.  Specializing in rugs, upholstery and furnishings for the home in Riverside California.  Located at 3837 7th St. Riverside, CA.  George D & Gretta, now going by Esther R. were both living at route 1, box 35, Riverside, CA.
Frank & Lois were living just three miles away at 3290 Pachappa Dr, Riverside, CA.
Ten years later, I am still finding FERRALL'S still located at 3837 7th St. Riverside, CA. With both George and his son Frank both working there. However both of their personal home addresses had changed by 1955. 
Between 1941 & 1955 George D & Lois A. Ferrall had three children.  First was Steven born in 1946, then David Millington who was born June 6, 1948, and died just one week later on June 12, 1948. Then came Julia Margaret Ferrell.
Julia married three times.  First to a Curtis H. Shedden in Orinda, Contra Costa, California on October 17, 1971.  Then second to Mr. Thomas Regginton Pearson in Reno, Washoe, Nevada on October 05, 1985.  Then last to Bruce M. Bingham.
Julia Margaret and Thomas Regginton Pearson immigrated to Quadra Island in 1989.  Unfortunatly Thomas died shortly there after from early onset of Alzheimer's.  Julia then met, and married Bruce Bingham the father of three children.
Quadra Island is just a 10 minute ferry ride from Campbell River, British Columbia Canada just off the coast of Vancouver Island Canada.  In Quadra Island some may say is where her life began.  She bought and opened the Heriot Bay Inn.

Which she operated until her retirement in 2014.

She leaves behind not only the legacy of her famous Inn, But also her children, her husband Bruce, five beloved grandchildren, and all the folks she met along the way who came to stay at the Heriot Bay Inn and become part of her extended family. Along with her step-daughter Tessa Bingham who shared this wonderful picture of Julia relaxing.
